The Department of English has been functioning since the inception of the college in 1960. Presently there are two faculties in the department. The head of the department Dr. A.N. Dave, an Associate Professor of English has been rendering his service in the institution since 1983. The students are highly benefited by his vast experience and thorough knowledge of the subject. Another faculty Mr. B.P. Rao, an Associate Professor of English has been serving in the institution since 1988.
English was taught only as a compulsory subject in all the three faculties since the beginning of the college. Later on it was also taught as a first subsidiary subject for a couple of years in the F.Y.B.A. class but it had to be discontinued due to insufficient number of students opting for it.
In fact, English should have been offered as a special subject from the commencement of the college. We had been trying our utmost during all these years to start it at the undergraduate level so as to enable the students of the surrounding area to have an access to study the Global language at their doorstep. We are pleased to mention at this juncture that we have succeeded in getting the approval of the university to start English literature as a special subject, on a self-finance base.
